چکیده

Most adenomas of the esophagus are mucin-producing lesions in the setting of Barrett esophagus, or originate in Barrett’s metaplastic epithelium, or are composed of cells with gastric epithelial features including parietal cells. Benign ductal or glandular neoplasms not associated with Barrett esophagus are very rare. There have been several reports of esophageal adenoma developing in the submucosa without Barrett epithelium. On the basis of microscopic features, esophageal adenomas have been described as serous cystadenoma, sialadenoma papilliferum, or submucosal gland duct adenoma. However, in Korea, esophageal adnoma has never been reported. Herein, we present a typical example of esophageal adenoma with unique histologic features indicating esophageal gland duct origin.

GSK3β and CREB3 Gene Expression Profiling in Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors (SGT) are rare lesions with uncertain histopathology. One of the major signaling pathways that participate in the development of several tumors is protein kinase A. In this pathway, glycogen synthase kinase β (GSK3β) and cAMP responsive element binding protein (CREB3) are two genes which are supposed to be down regulated in most human tumors. The expression lev...

Pyloric gland adenoma: a histologic, immunohistochemical and molecular genetic study of 23 cases.

Pyloric gland adenoma is a rare neoplasm with a gastric epithelial differentiation. We report 23 cases of pyloric gland adenoma in older persons, with a mean age of 74 years (range 52 - 87 years). They occurred in the esophagus (3 cases), corporal gastric mucosa (7 cases), duodenum (10 cases), gallbladder (2 cases), and choledochus (one case). Histologically, they were characterized by closely ...

Expression of betacatenin in carcinoma in pleomorphic adenoma, pleomorphic adenoma and normal salivary gland: an immunohistochemical study.

OBJECTIVES Pleomorphic adenomas are the most frequent type of epithelial salivary gland neoplasms, and their malignant counterpart, the carcinoma in pleomorphic adenomas, is much less common. Beta-catenin is a cell adhesion molecule associated with the invasion and metastasis of carcinomas of the head and neck, esophagus. The objective of this study was to detect the expression of beta-catenin ...

Pleomorphic Adenoma of Accessory Salivary Gland in a 15 Year Old Female: A Case Report

The salivary glands are divided into major and minor/accessory glands. Tumours are not rare in salivary glands and are mainly found in major salivary glands. Tumours of accessory salivary glands are relatively less common. Accessory parotid gland is a small unit of salivary gland tissue lying on the masseter muscle and seperated from the main parotid gland with an accessory duct draining into t...

An Incidental Finding of Pleomorphic Adenoma of the Minor Salivary Glands in the Skin Area of the Lower Lip

Salivary gland tumors are uncommonly seen and account for less than 3% of the head and neck tumors. Pleomorphic adenoma is a well-described benign tumor of the salivary glands, originating from myoepithelial and intercalated duct cells. It is most commonly found in major salivary glands. We present a rare and unusual case of pleomorphic adenoma of the minor salivary glands in the lower lip. The...
